A lovely array of appetizers and an open bar starts our Social, then we'll ease into a work/life balance presentation by Libby! And, yes, you need this!
In this hour talk, Libby Clark will share the known stressors endemic in law culture (and fiduciaries generally) and what changed as a result of COVID (and what didn’t). The presentation will include a blending of self-care and mutual care as the pathway towards creating the profession that demonstrates what it means to be “fit to practice.”
- Research findings about the culture of law and the lawyers themselves concerning high burn out, levels of anxiety and depression that far exceeds the general population, and professional training factors which contribute to these outcomes.
- New movements underway to look at the occupational risks of lawyering and finding methods to provide additional training, tools and skills to be healthier and more effective.
- The New York State model for approaching lawyer well-being and program which emerged from the 2020-2021 Attorney Wellbeing Task Force Report.
